Job Description
IIHS is looking for a Senior Editor to manage an editorial team in order to: (a) assist in setting up editorial processes for in-house research and practice publications including academic articles, working papers, professional reports, policy briefs, curriculum and training materials, cases, process documentation documents etc; (b) support content edits for publication, communication and outreach materials; and (c) set up and produce a twice-yearly academic journal on urbanization.

Activities and Tasks
The candidate will be expected to:
Assemble an editorial team IIHS as well as a broader network of copy editors.
Establish and help implement editorial processes, templates and frames across all IIHS teams
Provide substantive and copy edits to academics, research, training and practice at IIHS for all in-house publications, working papers, reports, policy briefs, etc.

Liase with the design team to ensure smooth production of all publications and digital material

Senior Associate/Consultant: Water and Environmental Services

Job Description

The Consultant position is based in the Practice Team at IIHS. The Practice Team is responsible for providing cutting-edge and integrated solutions to India’s urban development challenges by bringing together faculty and experts across diverse domains of knowledge and practice; expose learners to real-life problems and integrate the practice into academics and research.

As part of the Practice Team, the Consultant: Water and Environmental Services will be responsible for planning and executing research and consulting projects and assignments in the domain of environmental services (water, sanitation, solid waste management, drainage) as well as the related domain of public health. The Consultant will be expected to independently manage the implementation of these projects. He or she will be expected to contribute to project acquisition, provide assistance for teaching in IIHS Academic and Executive training programmes, and participate in research projects in environmental services and public health. The Consultant shall report to the Practice Lead (Environmental Services) and Associate Head of Practice at IIHS.

Activities and Tasks

The Consultant shall be expected to:

  • Participate in research and consulting projects in the environmental services (water, sanitation, solid waste management, drainage) and public health domains. Potential activities include writing proposals, detailing methodologies, carrying out primary and secondary research, data analysis, report-writing, and client interaction.

Project Manager - Campus Development

Job Description
Seeking a Project Manager preferably with Design – Build experience.

IIHS is in the process of developing its Campus in the Kengeri region of Bengaluru. The project manager shall be part of the Campus Development team and shall have the overall responsibility for the project from pre-design, design, estimating, through construction and handover of the Campus. The duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Managing and coordinating the pre-design and pre-construction surveys and studies.
  • Identification and selection of vendors and consultants
  • Working with various agencies and consultants early in process to ensure coordination of design process with IIHS team  and other key stakeholders including the neighboring community.
  • Design review and coordination
  • Preparation and management of budgets and overseeing tendering process

Law Associate - Land Project

Job Description
The Law Associate(s) shall be a part of an IIHS Project Team working on land records management and associated e-governance support initiatives involving field-work in four states. The Law Associate(s) will work on legal aspects of land administration, including legal, institutional, policy and implementation issues on the specifics of land ownership, use, transfer, registration, titling, informality, varied tenure systems and other related legal-policy issues. This will involve carrying out detailed evidence based and interpretative analysis of legislative, judicial, and institutional issues and outcomes on the ground as a part of the national and state level initiatives.

The position is based in our Delhi office and involves significant travel and field-work in Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Karnataka.

IIHS is recruiting up to two candidates for the position of Law Associate.

Activities and Tasks
The Associate shall:

  • Be a part of the team working on land governance and management initiatives and carry out detailed secondary and primary data collection and analyses on ongoing initiatives in select states and at the national levels;

Skills and Abilities

Experience in Surveying using ETS/ GPS, GIS projects, working knowledge of 3D studio max, programming on AutoLisp (AutoCAD), Macro development on MS Excel and certification/ formal training in AutoCAD would be advantageous.
